Dr. Emily Weinstein (she/her) is a psychologist, researcher, author, and lecturer who has spent over a decade at Harvard working on questions like: How do youth experience adolescence in an age of social media? What can adults do to help?
Her book with Carrie James, Behind Their Screens: What Teens Are Facing (And Adults Are Missing) received widespread coverage, including across The Today Show, NPR, TIME, The New York Times, WIRED, and The Washington Post.
With Dr. Jackie Nesi, Emily also created Tech Parenting 101: a self-paced online course for parents of tweens and teens that has evidence-based guidance on navigating big tech topics like screen time, gaming, cyberbullying, sexting, and more.
Emily is a Principal Investigator at Project Zero and lecturer at Harvard Graduate School of Education. As a mom of two young children, she feels a sense of personal urgency around finding ways to support kids in a tech-filled world.
In this Education Week piece, Emily weighs in on the multi-state lawsuit against Meta and ways educators can respond to students while the case is unfolding.
To mark the official launch of the Center for Digital Thriving (CDT) in October 2023, Emily joined Dr. Vivek Murthy, U.S. Surgeon General, and Destinee Ramos, CDT Research Assistant, in conversation to discuss ways to help youth navigate — and thrive — in today’s tech-filled world.
